Toddler Community Update

Bread baking is a favourite practical life activity in our Toddler Community. The Toddlers were engaged in bread baking on Wednesday. They helped with measuring and pouring, then enjoyed spreading butter and raspberry jam on the bread for a tasty snack. Music and movement was a great success. The children loved the actions to the words of the songs and had so much fun dancing. We appreciate the outerwear that has been sent for playing outside. We recommend winter boots and neck warmers as…

Toddler Community Update

Since forming their community in September, the toddlers have become more comfortable and independent in the classroom.  They are taking work out independently, completing tasks and returning materials independently, and tucking in their chairs when they finish their work. At snack and lunch time, the children are setting up their own mats and cups at their table.  Some of the older toddlers have been introduced to flower arranging and glass polishing, while others have enjoyed spooning.…

We all had a great time. The children continue to work very well in the classroom and are beginning to master some activities like the more challenging puzzles and setting up their own table setting for snack and lunch. Great job Toddlers!

Happy Thanksgiving, families! We had a short and busy week including a trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Toddlers enjoyed walking through the gardens, and especially liked seeing animals in nature. We spotted a raccoon and many birds along our nature walk, and even had the opportunity to feed chickadees from our hands! Overall the outing was interactive and the weather couldn't have been better. We don't have very many updates this week as you will have received an email with some notes…

Toddler Community Update

Mmmm, fresh bread! The toddler community was smelling wonderful on Thursday, when the toddlers made bread with Miss. Hinzmann.  The children took turns scooping and pouring ingredients, practicing their hand-eye coordination, focus, and concentration. As we move into colder weather, just a reminder to ensure that your child comes to school prepared for the weather. Rainy days are great for puddle jumping exploration, as long as our little ones are prepared with splash pants and rain boots.…

Toddler Community Update

Meal times in the toddler community are a time of socialization and learning. Grace and courtesy are integral to our meal time routines. All toddlers in our community sit at a child-sized table and practice feeding themselves from the first day of school. As they get used to the routines of the classroom, even our newest classmates are now learning grace of movement by setting the table with child-sized dishes and glasses. This week the dressing frames have been a popular activity in the…

Toddler Community Update

As we wrap up our second week in the toddler community, we are already seeing our newest students settling into the classroom well, and our returning students becoming engaged in their classroom work.  The beginning of the school year in our toddler community has been ushered in with many happy faces and some transitional tears that are quickly subsiding. Today we began our weekly music and movement program, which the toddlers highly enjoyed!  For parents new to the toddler community (and…
