We have our final classroom update of the school year from Casa North this week, who share the joys and sorrows of the end of a school year. Elementary families, be sure to read the Elementary section for details of their year-end activities.
Also, City of Hamilton summer recreation program booking opens at 8:00 a.m. on Wed., June 10.
This Week’s Classroom Update
It’s hard to believe that we only have two weeks left in the school year. The year has truly flown by! It has been wonderful to see friendships flourish and to watch your children grow and change throughout the year.
The end of a school year is always bittersweet. Everyone is excited for the summer holidays, but it is also sad to see children move on after being a part of Lyonsgate for many years.
As the end of the year approaches, please keep an eye out for your Casa child’s year-end interview in the coming weeks. It has been a pleasure getting to know your children and building meaningful relationships with them. Thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to guide and support their growth and learning.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you at the year-end picnic and graduation ceremony.
If your family is moving on from Lyonsgate at the end of this school year, thank you for being part of our community. We are grateful for the time you have spent with us and wish you all the very best in the future.

Elementary Upcoming Important Dates
Check your Lyonsgate calendar regularly for up to date events and information. You can add the school calendar to your own by clicking the “+” at bottom left on mobile or “Add to Google Calendar” on desktop.
Lyonsgate Upcoming Important Dates and Information
- Thursday, June 18: Last full day of school.
- Friday, June 19: Annual Casa graduation ceremony and Family Park Day. All Lyonsgate families are welcome to join us at Dundas Driving Park. The park day will run from 11:00-2:00 (but you are of course welcome to stay and enjoy the park for as long as you wish). Bring a picnic lunch for your family, and while we have pavilion #1 reserved many families like to bring a picnic blanket. There is also a splash pad and wading pool so swimsuits, towels, and lots of sunscreen are recommended, along with any other park-fun items your family enjoys. It is definitely not required, but you are also welcome to bring a potluck item to share with the community; please know that we have anaphylactic allergies to nuts, eggs, shellfish, fish, and kiwi.
Toddler and Casa Upcoming Important Dates
- Toddler-to-Casa Visits: Current Toddler students who are moving up to Casa in the 2026.2027 school year will begin visiting their new Casa classrooms to begin building familiarity with the new spaces, materials, and the broader age-range.

Elementary Upcoming Important Dates
- Monday, June 8: Open Classroom for Lyonsgate and Mapleside Families. Families and friends are invited to join us after school on Monday, June 8, between 3:15–4:15, for our last Open Classroom event of the school year, showcasing the students’ work from the third term. There will also be a short musical performance by a group of students in the outdoor classroom at 3:45 p.m. When you arrive, please come to the porch entrance to the Maple Room to meet up with your child and tour the classroom. Casa families are always welcome to join us, as well as students joining Mapleside Montessori in the fall. Our regular aftercare program will still be available to students until 4:30 p.m.
- Friday, June 12 to Saturday, June 13: Senior Sleepover for Years 3-7. Students in Years 3-7 are invited to stay overnight on campus with Marissa and Michelle to celebrate another great year together and welcome the third-year students to upper elementary. If you missed the sign-up deadline of Friday, June 5, and your child wishes to attend, please contact Marissa or Michelle by email. For those students staying overnight, a group discussion will be held on Monday, and a packing list provided. Students should arrive on Friday morning at school with their sleeping bag and overnight kit, as well as an after-school snack to enjoy at the park after school. Please ensure any accompanying medication is given directly to a staff member on Friday morning, and that you have completed the online medication administration form.
- Tuesday, June 16: Graduates Trip to the Royal Ontario Museum. Our graduating students should plan to be at the West Harbor Go Station at 8:15 a.m. to leave on the 8:24 Lakeshore West train to Union Station. This is 15 minutes earlier than originally planned to maximize our time at the ROM. We’ll continue by subway to the ROM and enjoy a day exploring the museum’s collections. Students must have their Presto cards for travel, and should bring a refillable water bottle and packed lunch. They are welcome to bring supplementary cash to purchase an additional snack at a suitable time after lunch or on the way home, but this is not required. Students are planning to return to Hamilton via the 2:47 p.m. Lakeshore West train to West Harbour station at 4:10 p.m. for pick-up.

Elementary Parent Observations: Parents are welcome to email elementary@lyonsgate.ca to arrange a classroom observation time, at least one week in advance please. Observations take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings between 9:00-11:30. (Other days and times may be available if needed). You will be observing the whole Elementary environment and classroom, not solely your own child.
